An Oxford Wedding

My sister got married yesterday… What more is there to say?

The doorway to the church… Beautiful!
If rain on a wedding day is lucky, hail has to be blessed. Wedding bells and hail…

One must wear a hat at British weddings.

More updates next week.

  1. It rained on our wedding day 43 years ago and a kind person driving by the damp reception tent stopped their car and said, “Tell the bride not to feel badly that it rained for her wedding . . . did you ever try to untie a wet knot?” It still makes me smile all these years later. Blessings!

  2. A British wedding! How wonderful!! You look like Princess Kate in that hat, Joy. 🙂 Congratulations to Sarah and her husband. ❤ So happy for you all!

  3. Yay, so happy for your sister, Joy! It looks like it was a lovely wedding, rain hail and all! You look simply beautiful in your British hat! And I just love your sister’s bridal dress… so pretty!
Blessings to you and your family on this happy occasion! ^_^ ❤

  4. Thank you for a peek into your family’s special day.

Sarah looks very lovely, the floral arch is so quintessentially English (are you a “Larkrise to Candleford” fan – I recall some hand held floral wedding arches), and your hat is perfect!

Sometimes a little craziness (like umbrellas fighting off hail falling on your wedding day!!!) becomes just another happy part of the day’s tale. I’m sure you’ll be telling it for ages to come.

(Seeing your twitter feed at the side bar – it sounds like you’ve picked up a cold or..? Take care. I hope you are feeling better soon.)

    • I completely agree about the rain… It is now a fun part of the story of the special day.
And yes. Alas! I (and my entire family including Sarah) have contracted a rather terrible head cold and sinus/ear infection. I think I’ll live, but it’s just terribly inconvenient for this veteran asthmatic. Thanks for the well wishes! 🙂

  5. So exciting! And so true that in Britain the only thing predictable about the weather is that it’s unpredictable and hence a constant source of conversation ;-). You both look so beautiful and so pleased that you had a fab day. I love the comment about the ‘wet knot’. Thanks for sharing your day with us xx

  6. It rained on my wedding day in August forty two years ago. Actually, it poured! I was told it was good luck by many who attended that day.
